The Laneway apartments had just recently been built with handover to the 43 new owners partially complete.
Prior to handover being finalised, a fire broke out within the main services riser of the building resulting in smoke damage to all floors as well as damage to other elements of the building.
Using our extensive experience, a comprehensive scope was put together to ensure that the building would be reinstated as new, including all services, passive fire systems, mechanical ventilation systems and finishings.
Repairs were undertaken immediately after the fire to ensure that there would be minimal delays to the handover of the building.
The repairs were completed within 6 weeks from the initial incident, allowing the handover of all apartments to go ahead and all necessary compliance checks be signed off.
In July 2019, while residents went about their everyday business in the quiet Christchurch suburb of Northwood, a large gas explosion occurred. The blast destroyed one home and extensively damaged multiple homes within close range, severely impacting the lives of many families and individuals.
We were on-site as soon as possible, connecting with affected residents and supporting Suncorp customers. Within the first two days, we assessed the structural damage to the badly affected homes, and our contractors completed urgent work to ensure homes were secure and watertight for peace of mind. In the following weeks, we assessed properties with lesser damage as residents lodged claims.
We managed 19 claims and 14 repair jobs resulting from the explosion, ranging from significant structural damage to minor cosmetic damage and damaged contents. We also supervised the design and building consent of two properties. We took care of these issues, so our customers didn’t have the added stress of being project managers.
